The baron of British hotel industry

In the history of British hotel industry, there is hardly a person more meritorious than Lord Charles Forte. According to Daily Mail, “Although he was of Italian origin, his name and that of his company Trusthouse Forte were an incredible part of British life, like bacon and eggs, tea and crumpets or Marks and Spencer.” Forte came a long way, from the owner of a milk bar in London to the head of a global hotel and catering empire that comprised eight hundred hotels of various categories and chains of roadside restaurants Little Chef and Happy Eater. Sadly, in his lifetime, he saw his entire property fall into foreign hands in a single moment.
