Fue un hotelero suizo que hizo carrera fuera de su país. Como joven con ambiciones, llegó a Egipto, donde primero perfeccionó sus habilidades de gestión y luego progresivamente arrendó o adquirió propiedades existentes, bien ubicadas, y se esforzó por hacerlas inversiones rentables. Con el tiempo, lideró el grupo hotelero más grande al sur del Mar Mediterráneo, convirtiéndose en el “rey no coronado de los hoteles egipcios”.
