He created a chain of motels called Days Inn which, due to its rapid growth, was deemed the McDonalds’ of the hotel industry in the 1980s. He was a man with a vision, common sense, and his own rules. His exceptional pervasiveness and out-of-the-box ideas helped him turn problems into effective solutions. Being a devout Baptist, he ran his business by faithfully following the religious principles contained in the Bible. This unique hotel man proved with his actions that serving people – both guests and the staff – was his life’s mission.
